Today I noticed while glancing through my early morning FACEBOOK check, that one of my FB friends great aunt had passed away. I wasn't sad to see she had died, because I know for a fact she died the way she wanted and she had lived a long and fulfilling life. She had children that she didn't birth that loved her like they were her very own.
You see she had made it very clear to her entire family what she wanted and how she wanted everything to go down when she was ready to pass. I remember sitting in their living room to discuss hospice options for them and how it lined up with all of her wishes. She was tired of going back and forth to medical appointments. CHECK. She wanted to be in her own house. CHECK. She wanted to be sure her caregiver was given a break. CHECK. She wanted to be sure no one try to resuscitate her when it was her time to go. CHECK.
As I sat in the living room with this family to talk about our services-- I couldn't help but keep thinking about my grandmother-- she did the same. She made all her wishes very clear. Now this was well before we (our family) new anything about LIVING WILLS--and I know we were very grateful for following what she wanted.
If you don't have a Living Will-- you need to get one. You are in luck, I have a FREE seminar October 17th at noon at Jackson's Cafeteria!
To her dear niece who will eulogize her today-- I pray God gives you the strength you need to get through--
