You know #ALS #bucketchallenge- I met #ALS in person- @clownejd @gamecocksonline @Agape_Senior

On yesterday I had the distinct privilege to sit in the home of a patient who has been diagnosed with ALS-- the average stats say that person diagnosed with ALS will live 2-5 years.  Can you imagine walking into an office to hear you have a disease and in the same breath hear and there isn't "really a cure out there".  ANGER may be the first feeling.  SADNESS may be another feeling. This hour and a half meeting could go on for days if I really wrote it all down, but I really just wanted to share a few points of the visit with you.
  • He told me Hospice should be called COMFORT CARE- he said his wife has been comforted by our service.  His C.N.A. is no longer just a C.N.A., but a part of the family-- she re-potted a plant for him from a funeral of one of his parents.  The respite stays have helped his wife be able to cope better. -- 31 years of average--
  • He told me that the God he serves has been so faithful in all that he has asked--
  • He told me that his social worker Jennifer M was the best person to go over and beyond whenever he or his family has needed assistance with anything from grants to lunch.
  • He told me that the Agape Senior family has been great and over the last 2 years he hasn't had anything but god experiences with our services.
You see I was just going to meet a patient and offer to help do a monthly newsletter for his ALS support group that has a pretty steady number of about 28 people every month.  He said people drive from all over the place to SUPPORT each other -- in a FAITH filled environment.  Instead I heard a testimony like no other, I witnessed FAITH in living, true color--

He wanted me to see one of his favorite pictures and he and his wife have a lot of pictures in this home-- they are GAMECOCK live hard fans- Season ticket holders--  His wife brought me a picture of him and Jadeveon Clowney that he was so very proud to have.  Oh did I mention he has been living with ALS for 11 years-- Wont God do it?  Yes He will.
