The last time I had a conversation about HOSPICE to a family their main concern seemed to be the caregiver-- so I went with that lead and explained that this service is not just for the PATIENT, but for the entire family. I look at the current patient that we are working with right now--
His final wish-- something many of us take for granted. He is dying and He is concerned that his wife will be without a good roof on the home when he passes-- we are working desperately to find some help-- know anyone? know a company?
Myth: Hospice is just for the patient.Reality: Hospice focuses on comfort, dignity, and emotional support. The quality of life for the patient, and also family members and others who are caregivers, is the highest priority.
