November Hospice & Palliative care month - Myth#3 @agape_Senior

So often I hear-- well if I go on hospice-- I will be dying soon.  There is no one on this EARTH that knows the exact day or time-- adding hospice to your medical chart will not be the reason that you die.  We are not going anywhere until God is ready for us, but I will say this way out loud-- if there is a way to know I may go soon-- I def want to go comfortably if I have to pick between one or the other!

Myth: Hospice means that the patient will soon die.

Reality: Receiving hospice care does not mean giving up hope or that death is imminent. The earlier an individual receives hospice care, the more opportunity there is to stabilize a patient's medical condition and address other needs. Studies show that patients receiving hospice care have often times lived longer than those who didn't accept hospice care.
