He only wandered once. It only takes 1 time Anyone can make a hospice referral Senile or ALZ? @alzassociation @Agape_Senior can help!

I really thought he was just senile.  You remember when people thought that Uncle Benson was just senile?  The thought of someone still being called SENILE is concerning to me because being senile to many is really Alzheimer's and or Dementia-- this is a disease that at its final stages can qualify you for assistance in the home, skilled nursing or assisted living facility and you need to know the facts!

When is it time to ask for HELP--the time is NOW-- even if your loved one is in the early stages it is time to EDUCATE yourself before it is to late.

I still remember a couple of years ago watching on the news with the family who their mother had just been diagnosed with ALZ (wandering) -- she wandered out of the home right onto I-85 and was killed when she was hit by two 18-wheelers, but at one point she was "just a wanderer" Story here

A family said that to me-- well he only wandered once.  It only takes once.  Get the education you need NOW!!!

A few things to watch for:

  • The patient can say only say a few words
  • The patient can no longer walk and may be bed-bound
  • The patient is totally dependent on others for eating, dressing and grooming
  • The patient shows signs of severe anxiety
  • The patient often confused about where he or she is or should be
  •  The patient is no longer continent

  • Remember you don't have to have a physician "to evaluate and talk"-- you need the physician order to ADMIT-- that part I can work with you to get.  Let's talk first and go from there.

Hospice in the home can provide:
    • Daily assistance from a CNA
    • Weekly visit from RN
    • Chaplain services
    • Social Worker assistance
    • Animal therapy, Music Therapy
    • Several other options all based on the needs of your family
We are here for the entire family -- not just the patient.
