Day Care...not for the kids but for your parents! Checked into it?

pictures from albrightlife.org
Did you know many people didn't even know there was Adult Day Care?  Funny, we will do research and ask around to see what is the best Day care for our children (those who use it)-- but when it comes time to find assistance for our senior parents-- we don't think about Day Care. I visit Adult Day Care programs here in the area (Rock Hill) and have been pleasantly surprised at what I see.
  • Structured schedules
  • JAM packed Days
  • B-I-N-G-O
  • Certified Staff
  • DHEC certified facilities
The two that stand out to me-- Flint Hill Day Care not affiliated with the church have a great program in a home like environment with all levels of care.  The other is First Calvary Baptist and it is nice, clean and home like environment also.  Neither can handle late stages of Alzheimer's, but both have several different levels of care.

If your parent or loved one has Medicaid-- there are programs that will assist with payment.  If you do not have Medicaid-- you can also talk to them about payment options.

Many of you pay over $150 a week for childcare-- Adult care shouldn't be much different-- or should it?  I think that if you can locate a safe, clean environment that will allow you to work and not be worried about your family member eating, sleeping, wandering or falling and being alone-- this is a great option! Check your local area for Adult Day Care--
