November is Hospice & Palliative Care month Myth #6 How long can we use hospice?

I hear a lot does this care just last for about 30-45 days.  Many times people get Home Health confused with Hospice care- People can and do graduate from hospice services when they may no longer need them, but there is no DEFINED time!

Myth: Patients can only receive hospice care for a limited amount of time.Reality: The Medicare benefit, and most private insurance, pays for hospice care as long as the patient continues to meets the criteria necessary. Patients may come on and off hospice care, and re-enroll in hospice care, as needed.
